Pilot workshops for Young Walter Scott Prize announced

3rd June, 2015

The Young Walter Scott Prize is excited to announce two pilot workshops in the Scottish Borders this summer, at Sir Walter Scott’s home Abbotsford, and at the Brewin Dolphin Borders Book Festival in Melrose.

These ‘Writing the Past’ workshops offer young writers a range of different ways to inspire their own historical fiction, in the course of a free-of-charge,  informally-programmed workshop led by the Director of the Young Walter Scott Prize, Alan Caig Wilson.

The workshop at Abbotsford is for young writers aged 16-19 on Monday 8th June 2015 from 10.30 – 2.30pm and will be presented by the writer Elspeth Murray.  For further details and to enrol please email ywsprize@outlook.com

The ‘Making History Come Alive’ workshop at the Brewin Dolphin Borders Book Festival is for young writers aged 11-19 on Saturday 13th June from 10.45 – 11.45am, and will be presented by the writer Ann Weisgarber.  To book tickets go here
