We’re delighted to announce that two new judges have joined the panel for the 2016 Walter Scott Prize.  Poet and writer Jackie Kay and broadcaster James Naughtie join Alistair Moffat, Elizabeth Buccleuch, Elizabeth Laird and Kirsty Wark on the esteemed panel to choose this year’s shortlist and winner.

Our two new judges are no strangers to book prizes, having been either judges or recipients of an impressive number of literary awards.  Alistair Moffat, chair of judges, said:

“It’s a fascinating time for historical fiction, as it transcends its genre boundaries, so we are doubly excited to welcome two terrific new judges onto our panel, to lend fresh perspectives to the judging process. Watch out for our shortlist  – it could be controversial!”
